With Purpose: College Station

"Out of my time at Texas A&M, With Purpose: College Station is what I am most proud of.  Not only have I made some of my best friends...but it's something that I want to stay a part of for my entire life."  Courtney McIlvoy, 21

A group of students at Texas A&M University took their passion for a topic introduced through a public speaking course and turned it into a full-fledged student-led chapter of With Purpose.  In less than two years, they have successfully executed more than a dozen fundraisers and educated thousands of people in their community about the barriers preventing the development of new safe and effective treatments for kids with cancer.

If you are interested in starting your own student-led chapter of With Purpose, you can read advice from the leadership team here or email Erin at erin@with-purpose.org.

Spirit Week at Eastside High School

Spirit Week at Eastside High School

Every fall, the student government at Eastside High School in Taylors, SC changes the world.  They vet dozens of applications from charitable organizations, select a beneficiary and start planning, organizing, motivating, and inspiring those around them to act.

In 2015, With Purpose was the beneficiary and we watched a community, inspired by high school students, come together and raise more than $125,000 in one week.  The students worked around-the-clock executing more than 50 fundraisers and having a blast in the process.  Participating in Spirit Week was a life-changing, life-affirming experience.

When Rachel, Nicole and Catherine lost their neighborhood friend, Sam, to brain cancer, they decided they wanted to help.  They wanted to help make sure kids with cancer have access to safe, effective treatments and they wanted to help Sam's family by showing them that with a little love and a lot of hard work, we can all make a difference.

So they spent their summer break securing event sponsors, recruiting more than 40 participants, and successfully executing the first annual With Purpose Kids Fun Run.  Their efforts raised more than $10,000 in one day and showed a small midwestern community the power of friendship and love.
